Truck for a hero Giveaway Rules

 1. Sponsor

The Truck for a Hero Giveaway (the “Program”) is sponsored and administered by:

American Society for the Preservation of C10’s (ASPC10)

ASPC10 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving classic GM trucks while supporting heroes in need through community-based restoration projects and charitable initiatives.


2. Program Purpose

The Truck for a Hero program restores and awards a classic GM truck to a deserving hero who has demonstrated service, sacrifice, or dedication to their community or country and is experiencing a need for reliable transportation.

This program also supports:

  • Automotive preservation
  • Skills training through restoration
  • Community service initiatives
  • Honoring veterans and public servants


3. No Purchase Necessary

NO PURCHASE, PAYMENT, OR DONATION IS NECESSARY TO ENTER, NOMINATE, OR RECEIVE THE TRUCK.


Donations, memberships, or purchases from ASPC10 do not increase the chances of being selected.


4. Eligibility

Eligible nominees must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be a legal resident of the United States
  • Be able to legally register, insure, and operate a motor vehicle
  • Demonstrate heroic service or significant community contribution
  • Demonstrate financial hardship or a legitimate need for reliable transportation

Eligible heroes may include but are not limited to:

  • Military veterans
  • Active military service members
  • First responders (police, fire, EMS)
  • Teachers
  • Healthcare workers
  • Community volunteers

Employees, officers, and board members of ASPC10 are not eligible to receive the prize.


5. Nomination Process

Nominations may be submitted by:

  • ASPC10 members
  • Community members
  • Partner organizations
  • Automotive shops or industry partners

Each nomination must include:

  • Nominee name
  • Contact information
  • Description of service and heroism
  • Explanation of transportation need
  • Supporting documentation (optional but encouraged)

Incomplete nominations may not be considered.


6. Program Timeline

The Truck for a Hero program operates according to the following general timeline. Specific dates may vary each year.


Nomination Period

Heroes may be nominated during the official nomination window published on www.aspc10.org.


Typical nomination period:

January 1 – May 31


Review & Verification Period

During this stage ASPC10 will:

  • Review nominations
  • Verify eligibility
  • Conduct background and reference checks if necessary
  • Select finalists


Typical review period:

June – July


Voting & Final Selection

Finalists may be presented to:

  • ASPC10      membership
  • ASPC10      leadership board

Voting may occur electronically or during official ASPC10 meetings or events.


Typical selection period:

August – September


Recipient Announcement

The Truck for a Hero recipient will typically be announced:

  • At an ASPC10 event
  • Through official ASPC10 media channels
  • On the ASPC10 website


Typical announcement window:

Fall of each program year


Vehicle Presentation

The restored truck will be presented to the selected hero once restoration is complete.

Due to restoration timelines, presentation may occur several months after recipient selection.


7. Selection Process

Recipients are selected through a multi-stage review process:

  1. Nomination review
  2. Eligibility verification
  3. Committee evaluation
  4. ASPC10 member or board voting
  5. Final board approval

All decisions made by ASPC10 are final and binding.


8. Prize Description

The selected hero will receive:


One restored classic GM truck

The truck may be:

  • Donated
  • Purchased
  • Restored through ASPC10 volunteer and partner efforts


Vehicle restoration quality may vary based on:

  • Parts availability
  • Volunteer labor
  • Donations and sponsorships
  • Project timeline


9. Prize Conditions

The vehicle is awarded AS-IS with no warranty, expressed or implied.


The recipient is responsible for:

  • Vehicle registration
  • Insurance
  • Licensing
  • Taxes
  • Title transfer fees
  • Any applicable local or state fees

The prize:

  • Has no cash value substitution
  • Is non-transferable
  • Cannot be exchanged


10. IRS Tax Disclosure

The truck may be considered taxable income by the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The recipient may receive a Form 1099-MISC reflecting the fair market value of the vehicle.


The recipient is solely responsible for:

  • Reporting the prize as income
  • Paying any federal, state, or local taxes associated with the prize


ASPC10 does not provide tax advice. Recipients are encouraged to consult a qualified tax professional.


11. Vehicle Title & Liability Waiver

Prior to receiving the vehicle, the selected recipient must:

  • Sign a vehicle acceptance agreement
  • Sign a liability release waiver
  • Provide valid driver’s license and identification


By accepting the vehicle, the recipient agrees that:

  • The vehicle is accepted as-is
  • ASPC10 makes no guarantees regarding performance or reliability
  • ASPC10 and its partners are not responsible for future maintenance, repairs,      or damages


Recipients agree to release and hold harmless:

  • ASPC10
  • Its board members
  • Volunteers
  • Sponsors
  • Automotive partners

from any liability arising from ownership or operation of the vehicle.


12. Publicity Release

By accepting the prize, the recipient grants ASPC10 permission to use their:

  • Name
  • Story
  • Image
  • Video footage
  • Vehicle presentation

for promotional, marketing, and storytelling purposes related to the Truck for a Hero program.


13. Program Changes

ASPC10 reserves the right to:

  • Modify timelines
  • Cancel or postpone the program

Substitute a comparable vehicle if necessary due to circumstances including but not limited to:

  • Restoration delays
  • Parts availability
  • Funding changes
  • Force majeure events

14. Governing Law

The Truck for a Hero program is governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee.


 

15. Vehicle Use Requirement

The Truck for a Hero vehicle is intended to provide reliable personal transportation for the selected recipient.


By accepting the vehicle, the recipient agrees that the truck will be used primarily for:

  • Personal transportation 
  • Employment or commuting needs 
  • Family responsibilities 
  • Community service activities
     

The vehicle may not be used for commercial resale purposes or primarily for financial gain.


ASPC10 may request periodic confirmation that the vehicle is being used for its intended purpose.


 

16. Resale Restriction Period

To preserve the charitable purpose of the Truck for a Hero program, recipients agree that the awarded vehicle may not be sold, transferred, or traded for a period of 24 months from the date of title transfer.


If the recipient wishes to sell or transfer the vehicle during this restriction period:

  • ASPC10 must be notified in writing 
  • ASPC10 reserves the right to approve the transfer or request return of the vehicle
     

Exceptions may be made in cases such as:

  • Medical hardship 
  • Significant financial hardship 
  • Vehicle safety issues 

All exceptions are reviewed at the sole discretion of ASPC10 leadership.


 

17. Character & Community Representation Clause

Recipients of the Truck for a Hero award are considered ambassadors of the program and may represent the mission and values of ASPC10 within their communities.


Recipients agree to uphold conduct consistent with the program’s mission, including:

  • Respectful public behavior 
  • Lawful operation of the vehicle 
  • Positive representation of the ASPC10 organization and its supporters
     

If ASPC10 determines that a recipient engages in conduct that significantly harms the reputation of the program, the organization reserves the right to review the award and take appropriate action as permitted by law.
